Harvard Model United Nations
Legacies of Excellence
Since Harvard’s Model League of Nations, HarvardMUN draws upon nearly a century of experience, talent, and knowledge. Harvard Model United Nations is one of the world’s premier Model UN conferences, drawing thousands of delegates every year to compete in a prestigious competition that crowns only the best of the best. HarvardMUN is not only a Model UN conference, but a genuine product years in the making through constant innovation and a commitment to excellence.
At HarvardMUN Canada, we draw upon this storied legacy and history of excellence, and we aim to build an environment where delegates can thrive, innovate, and flourish. To that end, HarvardMUN Canada will redefine the delegate experience, bringing the best of HarvardMUN tradition and the world’s best MUN innovations.
Balancing Tradition & Innovation
Anti-Cheating & Collusion
In addition to carefuly training staff on spotting and dealing with policy violations, HarvardMUN Canada will keep extensive track of how working papers/resolutions are being drafted to avoid plagiarism. Finally, HarvardMUN Canada will provide extensive clarity around what is and is not considered pre-writing, and all faculty advisors will be provided with clear instructions to ensure their delegations remain compliant.
Enforcing Foreign Policy
HarvardMUN Canada will be rewarding delegates who have complete mastery over their ability to maintain their delegation’s foreign policy stance, whilst innovating on matters of substance and engaging with other delegates to develop viable multi-lateral solutions. We’re looking for delegates who are responsive, tactical, passionate, and well-read. It’s the balance and mastery of all these characteristics that we value the most in our delegates.
Academic Rigour & Competition
One of the key pillars of HarvardMUN Canada’s values involve striking a balance between academic rigour, competitive debate, and style. We believe that Model UN’s full value is only realized when delegates are fully involved in discussion, and we don’t believe that’s possible without all three of these characteristics. A mastery in all three skills is what HarvardMUN Canada values most.
Accessibility and Affordability
HMUN Canada remains committed to the promise of ensuring that participation in multi-day, national level conferences remains a possibility for students of of all backgrounds across the country. HMUN Canada will continue to give opportunities to underepresented territories and provinces of Canada and provide readily available financial aid. Notably, HMUN Canada will be launching a circuit discounting system this year, allowing delegates to reduce their registration fee by attending partner conferences in Canada.
