Secretary-General
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to Harvard Model United Nations Canada 2027. My name is Jimmy Merino, and I am a junior at Harvard College studying Economics and Government. This year, I am privileged to serve as the Secretary-General.
Our world is increasingly shaped by challenges that extend beyond any one country, community, or perspective. At a time when disagreement can often feel easier than cooperation, I believe it is more important than ever that students have opportunities to engage seriously with perspectives different from their own. Model United Nations creates that space.
HarvardMUN Canada will take place at the Westin Harbour Castle from May 27-30, 2027. Building on the success of our inaugural conference, we are excited to return to Toronto with an expanded, stronger conference experience that brings together students from across Canada and around the world.
This year, we are excited to offer 15 committees, and for the first time, HarvardMUN Canada will feature a Specialized Agency alongside our traditional committee and Tournament of Champions offerings. We are also introducing a beginner-friendly committee designed to make the conference more accessible to students new to Model United Nations, while still providing the substantive and engaging experience that defines HarvardMUN.
The Secretariat and leadership team look forward to welcoming you to Toronto this May for another unforgettable year of HarvardMUN Canada. More than anything, I hope you leave the conference with new perspectives, new friendships, and ideas that extend far beyond the committee room.
