UNEP passes a new resolution to support developing countries in green initiatives

A groundbreaking new resolution paper proposed today in the United Nations Environment Programme, has finally passed. This resolution marks a big step towards a sustainable future, especially for many countries in need. The delegation of the United States, who lead the RENEW initiative, has claimed that the paper will substantially benefit underdeveloped countries, especially when it comes to the development of green energy infrastructure, such as investing in eco-friendly infrastructure. When asked about the impact of the green energy movement in relation to the US economy, the United States responded “It is the case that oil is a really big part of our economy right now, but the US has also put a lot of funding into renewable energy, - I think we put in 600 million dollars [as of] right now”.

When asked about the impact of this paper on the average American, the United States responded that this paper does not negatively affect the average American, and only benefits underdeveloped countries by assisting them in their road to becoming modern nations. It may be hard to believe that something can have no negatives, but it seems the Americans have done the impossible again.

The RENEW initiative is designed to help developing countries by assisting with the acquiring and installation of solar panels and other microgrid systems, funded in part by the UN and in part by so called “Green-Bonds”.

“Green-Bonds” are publicly available bonds sold on the market that allow the general public, as well as large corporations, to invest in green initiatives by lending their money at a fixed return rate to the program.
