Position Papers
Deadline: May 26, 11:59pm EDT
All delegates are required to submit a position paper to be eligible for awards at HarvardMUN Canada. Position papers will be required for all delegates, including those registered for crisis committees and committees where delegates are assigned characters, not countries (the Council of the Federation, Dune, etc.).

Double-Del Committees
Q: Will double-delegate teams be required to submit individual position papers?
A: Double delegate teams will submit one joint position paper per position, the work to be divided by the team.
Crisis Committees
Q: Will crisis delegates be required to submit a position paper (Dune or Gulf War)?
A: As of May 1st, 2026, crisis delegates will be required to submit a single position paper for their committee in order to be eligible for awards.
Position Paper FAQs

A position paper is a one-page document not including citations to expand on your country or character’s stance on the topics found in the background guide.

Position papers are optional, but highly recommended for all delegates at HarvardMUN Canada 2026.
However, position papers are required if delegates wish to be in contention for awards. In other words, delegates must submit a position paper to be eligible to win an award.
Furthermore, position papers are very useful to prepare for the conference by learning and studying potential solutions that align with your country’s foreign policy.

Delegates are required to write one position paper per topic, to be uploaded as a single document.

At HarvardMUN Canada 2026, committees will expect all position papers to be cited thoroughly to ensure accuracy of information.
Papers are required to have either in-text or footnote citations in addition to a bibliography at the end of the position paper.
Regarding the proper citation styles, any proper and consistent citation format will be accepted due to the late publication of delegate resources.
