Debate On Topics For Debate Has Begun At The United Nations Development Programme

Delegates raise their placards to speak in the primary speakers list.

Debate has opened at the United Nations Development Programme with a variety of delegations favouring discussion over Topic A: Designing Post-Conflict Development Packages for the Russia-Ukraine War.

The delegation of Greece has graciously opened the debate on potential topics for discussion. Delegates of Algeria, France, Ecuador, Greece, and Morocco strongly urge the committee to proceed with the discussion of relief packages regarding the Russo-Ukrainian war. Delegates of Lesotho and Iran prefer a sustained focus on the UN Sustainable development goals.

Delegates in favour of discussing the Russo-Ukrainian conflict point out how it is paramount for the UN to focus on solving conflicts one by one such as the ongoing conflict before delving into more dispersed global issues like the SDGs. However, delegates in favour of debating for Topic B: Post the SDGs: Designing a New Global Development Framework explain how it is imperative to focus on issues that impact countries globally as one whole united council.

People's Republic of China raises a placard to participate in the primary speakers list.

Powers like the delegate of the United States and delegate of the People’s Republic of China have shown interest in participating in the debate for topics to discuss, potentially demonstrating their willingness to use their influence to combat problems on the world stage.
